Association Internationale de Littérature Comparée | International Comparative Literature Association

The fonts used on the official documents of the Association Internationale de Littérature Comparée / International Comparative Literature Association (and ideally on this web site) are Frutiger Condensed and Minion.

Adrian Frutiger (born 1928) designed a font for the signage in the Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport in 1975. This became the basis for the Frutiger typeface released by Linotype in 1976. It is well-regarded for its legibility in a variety of circumstances, and used for titling purposes on AILC/ICLA documents and this site. If users do not have Frutiger installed, titles may appear (in order of priority) in Lucida Grande, Franklin Gothic, Helvetica, Verdana, or Sans Serif.

Minion was designed by Robert Slimbach (1956) for Adobe, and it was released in 1990. The ICLA Bulletin is set entirely in Minion, as well as the body text for most AILC/ICLA documents. Ideally the body text for this site should appear in Minion, but if the user does not have that font installed, Garamond, then Georgia, then Times New Roman will be used.

In most cases, the images were textured using the excellent Photoshop brushes created by Vered (http://veredgf.fredfarm.com/vbrush/main.html).

This site was designed by Jason Francis (jason.r.francis@gmail.com) working under the direction of the ICLA Communications Committee and AILC/ICLA President Tania Carvalhal.
